What cookies Scottish Energy Efficiency uses on batteryretrofitscotland.co.uk, why we use them, and how to manage your preferences. We use minimal cookies for analytics only.
Essential cookies
We do not use any cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to function. The site works fully without cookies. The only cookies we set are for analytics, and only if you accept them via the cookie banner.
Analytics cookies
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure how visitors use the site — which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and which referral sources brought them here. This data is aggregated and anonymous. It helps us improve the site content and user experience.
Managing your preferences
You can accept or reject analytics cookies using the cookie banner that appears on your first visit. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site, which will show the banner again. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
Third-party cookies
Google Analytics 4 may set its own cookies if you accept analytics cookies. We do not control these cookies directly — see Google's privacy policy for details. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or social media cookies.
Cookies and the compatibility checker
The compatibility checker form itself does not require cookies to function. Your answers are processed to generate your compatibility assessment and, if you request a survey, to pass your details to our team. If you do not accept analytics cookies, the checker still works fully and you still receive your assessment. No cookie is set simply by using the checker. This means you can run the checker, receive your result, and leave the site without any tracking cookies on your device if you have rejected analytics cookies or cleared them afterwards.
Browser settings and cookie controls
Most modern browsers let you view, block and delete cookies through the privacy or security settings. You can set your browser to block all third-party cookies, block all cookies, or clear cookies when you close the browser. If you block all cookies, this site will still function — we do not rely on cookies for core functionality. The only effect is that the cookie banner may reappear on each visit if your browser clears cookies between sessions. For detailed instructions on managing cookies in your specific browser, consult the browser's help documentation. We do not use cookie walls that block access to content until you accept cookies.
If you are concerned about privacy more broadly, consider using a browser that includes built-in tracking protection and reviewing which extensions you have installed, as some extensions can set their own cookies or tracking identifiers. You can also use private or incognito browsing modes, which do not persist cookies after the session ends. None of these measures will affect your ability to use the compatibility checker or read the content on this site. Our aim is to keep cookie usage to the absolute minimum while still understanding, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
